For over thirty years we have put patients and those important to them at the heart of everything we do. We exist to ensure that people with life-limiting illnesses in County Durham can make every day count for as long as possible.

Without the support of incredible volunteers, fundraisers, supporters, businesses, charitable trusts and local health organisations we simply couldn’t care with all of the love, compassion and kindness that makes us special. We are incredibly proud of our local community for all they do.

The best way to get a sense of our impact is to hear it first hand by reading our stories.

Our Stories

St Cuthbert’s Hospice is full of people with inspirational stories to tell. Patients, families, carers staff and volunteers are our greatest ambassadors and it is a privilege to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences of Hospice life.

Meet Our Volunteers

Volunteers are the "heart and soul" of St Cuthbert's Hospice. They help make the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere so often commented on by our guests and visitors. Our volunteers provide a vital service; without their support, we would not be where we are today. To show how much they mean to us, we would like take the opportunity to introduce you to a selection of our volunteers.
