Hospice Facts & Figures

Did you know that in the last twelve months, St Cuthbert’s Hospice has:

• Cared for 173 people in the In Patient Unit
• Bed occupancy reached 75 %, proving that there was great demand for the 10 bed In Patient Unit, which opened in 2006
• Over 1586 attendances in the Day Hospice.

It costs £1.6 million pounds to provide this care at St Cuthbert’s Hospice. The local Primary Care Trust contributes one third of the running costs, with the remainder raised through the generosity of local people who make donations and support our charity shops and fundraising events.

What those costs mean:

• Each overnight stay at the hospice costs £330 per person
• The cost of providing one session in the Day Hospice is £120 per person
• Every day we must raise £4,000 to ensure that St Cuthbert’s Hospice can continue to provide the services needed by local people.
