About the role...

We are pleased to advertise this exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for dementia care to join our team at St Cuthbert’s Hospice as a Support Worker for Dementia Care. St Cuthbert’s Hospice recognises dementia as a life limiting condition and promotes living and dying well with dementia. Our Dementia service aims to ensure people with dementia, their Carers and families feel well supported. We provide a range of therapeutic interventions to promote this including an Admiral Nurse Service, Cognitive Stimulation Therapy and Namaste Care.

With the support of the Admiral Nurse and Namaste Coordinator the successful candidate will provide support to people living with dementia, their carers and families. The main priority for the postholder will be to support the development and facilitation of new community groups, by helping to engage individuals with different activities, serve refreshments and support Carers and families by promoting living and dying well with dementia.

To apply we request that you have experience of working with people with dementia. The role will include working in community settings, in the facilitation of Namaste/support groups and may include home visits or administration duties. This will require independent travel across Durham. Compassion, empathy and excellent communication skills are essential to the role. This post will subject to DBS screening.
