Clarty Bairns

Family-friendly muddy fun in aid of St Cuthbert’s Hospice!

Do you fancy taking on the challenge of Clarty Bairns for St Cuthbert’s Hospice? Clarty Bairns is the only family-friendly, properly muddy obstacle course in the North East. Offering good fun for bairns and big kids aged 5+. Set in the beautiful County Durham countryside at Hedley West Farm, Clarty Bairns is a fun-packed day out while also helping families to get fit and healthy together.

St Cuthbert’s is looking for families to get muddy and fundraise for the Hospice – register today for a discounted fee of £10 per person (normal price £18 adults, £12 children) and raise sponsorship for the Hospice. There’s no minimum sponsorship, although we would recommend £50 target per participant.

Included in your registration, each participant will receive a Hospice t-shirt to wear on the day as well as fundraising resources and advice!

All funds raised will help us continue caring for those affected by life-limiting illnesses in County Durham.

Information from the event organiser

Clarty Bairns event is ran by Challenge Northumberland  We are able to offer a discounted entry fee of £10 per person.

Distance

The event is a 3k of undulating terrain that will be a good test of both stamina and strength. We expect it to be so enjoyable and challenging that most will complete it!

Clothing

You will get wet and muddy as you negotiate our challenging obstacles throughout the 3km course, so we would ask you to consider not bringing brand new, white trainers, unless you really want to!! Lightweight clothing is definitely recommended. Limited changing facilities are available if you want to bring and change of clothes.

Food and drink

Small shop selling Hot/Cold drinks and cold snacks, or bring your own refreshments/picnic and relax on the grass after your exploits.

Obstacles

With this exceptional location, we can offer a unique range of obstacles that will test your limits! Whether they are man made or natural, each obstacle will be a challenge!

Each section of obstacles will be manned by experienced marshals who will be in continual communication with event control.

Fitness level

As long as you are reasonably able, you will be able to complete the course. You don’t have to be an experienced distance runner or gym fanatic, but we recommend that you be in good physical condition. You will need strong mental endurance to complete the obstacle course and a sense of fun!

None of the obstacles are compulsory. We encourage you to try every obstacle but if there is something that you feel unable to do, then you can simply walk around. The choice is yours. There will be a mandatory safety briefing and warm up for each wave. You must be at the start line 10 minutes before your wave is due to start. You will be reminded about this during registration.

Start times

Waves start at 9.30am, then every 15 minutes until the last wave at 2.30pm.
