Today, St Cuthbert’s Hospice Chief Executive Laura Barker, will be taking the voices of our patients, community, staff and volunteers to Westminster.
Joining Hospice UK, and other hospices like ours who have been forced to make cuts to services, she will join a call for action to the Government, asking them to urgently address the funding crisis our sector faces.
We must continue to deliver the vital care that patients and families rely on, and stand shoulder to shoulder with our fellow hospices.
We are proud to support Hospice UK’s campaign for fair funding. Their four-point plan aims to secure the future of hospice care.
The campaign is calling for:
• Full funding of the palliative care delivered by hospices
• Improved NHS contracts for hospices
• Funding to cover the cost of NHS pay rises for hospice staff
• National accountability for equitable provision of palliative care, wherever you live.
The time for change is now. We need urgent reforms on the way in which the hospice sector is funded, to enable us to continue to deliver the specialist palliative and end-of-life care people in our communities so greatly need, now and for future generations.
