St Cuthbert’s Hospice is delighted to have received a 10-Year Recognition Award from the National Garden Scheme, marking a decade of opening our Hospice gardens as part of the scheme and helping to support the charity’s vital work.

For the past 10 years, visitors have been welcomed to enjoy our beautiful grounds through the National Garden Scheme, while helping to raise funds for nursing and health charities across the UK. The Hospice gardens have long been a special place for our guests, families, staff, volunteers and visitors, offering opportunities for reflection, connection and wellbeing.
From our Victorian-style greenhouse and kitchen garden to our sensory garden, In Memory Garden and Garden of Compassion, the five-acre site is cared for by a dedicated team of volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure it remains a welcoming space for everyone who visits.
Martin Winn, Volunteer Head Gardener said:
“It’s a privilege to help care for these gardens and be part of something that means so much to so many people. Every season brings something different, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see guests, families, staff, volunteers and visitors enjoying the spaces we work so hard to create.
This award is recognition of the dedication shown by our gardening volunteers over the last 10 years. Whatever the weather, they give their time, energy and expertise to ensure the gardens look their very best. We’re delighted to receive this recognition from the National Garden Scheme and grateful to everyone who has supported us by visiting the gardens over the years.”
We would like to thank our volunteer gardeners, everyone who has visited and supported our gardens over the past decade, and the National Garden Scheme for this wonderful recognition. Together, you have helped make our gardens a special place for so many people.

Why not come and see our award-winning gardens for yourself?
The gardens are open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, 11am to 3pm. We look forward to welcoming you!
