Houghton le Spring Charity Shop to Close in Next Six Months
Over the last 14 years, our Houghton le Spring charity shop has been at the heart of the town, valued by local people and played a significant role in raising awareness of the vital work we do to support those in the area, as well as raising much needed funds.
We’re saddened to announce that St Cuthbert’s Hospice has made the difficult decision to close the charity shop on Newbottle Street. Despite our best efforts to boost sales with promotions and high-quality stock, footfall in the area has remained too low to sustain the shop financially.
We have worked closely with staff and volunteers affected, and are pleased to share that many are remaining with us and will be working and volunteering in another of our St Cuthbert’s Charity Shops. We are grateful to them for their understanding, flexibility and ongoing commitment to our charity.
The shop will close within the next six months as we see out the remainder of our lease. We will share the exact details and date of the closure with you as soon as possible.
The shop will continue to operate as usual until further notice, so please continue to support with your kind donations and custom. We look forward to seeing you soon.
