“My Dad loved running just like me but I could never beat him in a race. He ran 10k’s and the Great North Run to help raise money for St Cuthbert’s Hospice. St Cuthbert’s looked after my Grandad when he was very poorly. I never even got a chance to meet him but my Mum tells me about him. Then when my Dad got cancer, the hospice helped to look after him too. Since my Dad isn’t here anymore I am going to repay their kindness by doing the one thing I do best… RUNNING!!”

One of our amazing young fundraisers, 7-year-old Nathan Rennison, is taking part in the Durham City Run Festival on Saturday 16th July 2022. He will ‘Run Like a Legend’ in the 1-mile race to raise money for the Hospice in memory of his Dad Andy, who was cared for here at the Hospice. Nathan will be running alongside his mum Karen’s cousin, Helen.

Karen said: “Throughout his illness, St Cuthbert’s helped Andy with his pain management and symptom control. They gave him weekly reiki sessions as well as regular counselling and emotional support at their Living Well Centre. The In-Patient Unit provided end of life care to both Andy and my Dad, as he was also cared for at the Hospice. Any donation, no matter how small, will help St Cuthbert’s dedicated staff and volunteers continue to do what they do best… offering care and support to those with life-limiting or terminal illnesses.”

What a wonderful way to remember your dad Nathan, everyone here at the Hospice will be cheering you on every step of your race!

Good Luck Nathan and Helen!
