"The Community Outreach project has offered practical, social, and emotional opportunities for myself, as a Carer, and my husband, for whom I care."

Jean Boyne, a frequent attendee of the Community Outreach Dementia Support group and the Hospice Hub Coffee Morning, has generously shared her story of how being part of this project has immensely helped her.
“The Community Outreach project has offered practical, social, and emotional opportunities for myself, as a Carer, and my husband, for whom I care. The Hospice Hub Coffee Morning is a space where I can meet up with others who are also on this challenging, ‘Dementia led journey’. We share a cuppa, experiences, information, and even a chuckle, and we can all speak with honesty amongst those who understand, while supported by the Community Outreach Team. Every Tuesday afternoon, I join my husband at the Dementia Support Group. It’s a comforting environment where he can relax, play dominoes, and socialize with others while I chat with fellow caregivers nearby. These opportunities for Carers of Dementia sufferers to come together, along with those for whom they care, and socialize in a friendly, supportive environment are virtually non-existent. It is credit to St Cuthbert’s Hospice for identifying this need. I’m sure I speak for us all when I say, Thank you, although those words don’t cover how grateful we are. Long may the project continue and hopefully expand.”
If you can relate to Jean’s experience and are in need of assistance, our Community Outreach Team is available to chat with you. Come and join us at the Hospice Hub Coffee Morning, every Monday 10am – 11:30 at the Chester-le-Street Parish Centre, Church Chare, DH3 3QB. Or you can contact the Community Outreach Team by calling 07523 696253
