A little about the role

Are you a creative and driven individual with a passion for building relationships and making a difference in your local community? St Cuthbert’s Hospice is looking for an enthusiastic Supporter Engagement Coordinator to join our team and help us grow our vital work across County Durham.

About Us

St Cuthbert’s Hospice has been a cornerstone of the community for nearly 40 years, providing compassionate care and support to individuals and families during some of life’s most challenging times. Our work is only possible thanks to the generosity and dedication of supporters in our community, and we are seeking someone who can help us strengthen and expand these relationships.

The Role

As a Supporter Engagement Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining sustainable relationships with individuals, groups, and businesses in the local community. You will inspire and support fundraising efforts, deliver a successful community fundraising plan and represent St Cuthbert’s Hospice in a values driven way.

You will:

  • Build and nurture relationships with supporters, volunteers, and corporate partners, providing advice and guidance on fundraising events and activities.
  • Deliver agreed income targets by implementing a successful community fundraising plan, engaging with businesses, schools, groups, and individuals.
  • Represent St Cuthbert’s Hospice at events and in the community, increasing awareness, loyalty, and support for the charity.
  • Recruit and manage school fundraising initiatives, inspiring the next generation of supporters.
  • Support challenge events such as the Great North Run, working towards agreed KPIs.
  • Encourage regular giving by harnessing opportunities to convert one-off donors into long-term supporters.

About You

We are looking for someone who embodies the values of professionalism, choice, integrity, compassion, reputation and respect and can demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Excellent communication and team-working abilities, with the confidence to collaborate effectively with staff, supporters, and volunteers at all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to build and maintain positive relationships both internally and externally.
  • Creative flair and ingenuity, with the ability to contribute fresh ideas and innovative approaches to fundraising.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to juggle multiple projects, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines under time constraints.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, able to use your own initiative to deliver against set objectives.
  • Resilient and adaptable, thriving in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of work.

Experience in community fundraising, or a similar role is desirable, but we are equally interested in hearing from candidates with transferable skills and a passion for making a difference.
