Lynn Miller visited us recently to drop off the sponsorship money she raised along with her daughter Katie and son Elliot by taking on The Great North Swim in aid of St Cuthbert’s. The family have supported us since 2011 when Lynn’s Mum Honour Miller spent her last few days here at the Hospice. Lynn explained that her Mum was looked after with such attention, kindness, and total dedication from everyone to make her last days as pain free and comfortable as possible. She said “I will never forget the amazing help that was given, not just to my Mum but also me and my family. It was such a traumatic time for us all and the support we were all given was tremendous. I don’t think I have ever come across such an inspiring and dedicated team. This has always inspired us to want to “give back” and help in any way we can.”

The family took to the chilly open waters of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, to swim non-stop for 1 mile. They all managed the feat in under one hour and have managed to raise an astonishing £850.00 in sponsorship. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Lynn, Katie & Elliot and all of their generous supporters. This money will go directly toward funding patient care and ensuring we can continue to provide our care and support, free of charge, to even more families in County Durham.
