Staff at St Cuthbert’s Hospice say they are overwhelmed after local business leaders and dignitaries raised over £5,000 in a matter of minutes.
A cheque for £5,160 has been presented to Fiona Vallis, Deputy Chief Executive of the hospice by Ramside Hall Hotel General Manager Tim Boyd.
The money was raised at the end of a formal dinner to mark the hotel’s 50th anniversary.
Fiona said: “We are so grateful that the hotel chose St Cuthbert’s as the sole beneficiary of their charity collection on such an important occasion.
And we’re overwhelmed that so many different people gave so much for our cause.
“Ramside Hall has been a staunch and long standing supporter of St Cuthbert’s Hospice. I was delighted and proud to receive the cheque.”
Tim Boyd said: “Over 340 invited guests – including members of staff who have been with us for decades – did not have to be asked twice to put some money in envelopes we provided on the tables for St Cuthbert’s.
“We held a meeting prior to our 50th anniversary and chose St Cuthbert’s Hospice as the charity we would collect for at our celebration dinner. It’s a great local charity and our company, Ramside Estates, has a long and enduring association with it. We were proud to be able to hand over such a cheque on behalf of our supporters.”
