St Cuthbert’s Hospice celebrates a remarkable achievement as it reaches it’s fundraising goal of £100,000 to tackle to financial strain caused by escalating energy expenses.

The ‘Power Up! Appeal’ launched by the Hospice in July 2023 has rallied immense support from generous donors, the local community, charitable organisations, and corporate partners, all coming together to champion the cause and raise vital funds.

St Cuthbert’s Hospice, situated in County Durham, is dedicated to providing free care and support to individuals living with life-limiting illness, people approaching the end of life and people that are bereaved. The Hospice needs to fundraise over £2.5m every year to deliver its services and has encountered similar challenges to all of us during the current cost of living crisis.

The successful result of the ‘Power Up! Appeal’ not only alleviates financial pressures but also ensures the continuation of vital services to care for, laugh with, listen to, comfort, and help make special memories for thousands of individuals and families across County Durham each year.

Paul Marriott Chief Executive at St Cuthbert’s Hospice said:

“St Cuthbert’s Hospice is proud to have exceeded our goal of £100,000 thanks to the Power Up! Appeal, which is a testament to the care, support, and dedication of our local community.

As a Hospice, we strive to deliver the best possible care to everyone in County Durham and the heartwarming stories featured in this report demonstrate just that. The success of this campaign was only possible due to the collective effort of our various supporters including communities, giving organisations, corporates, staff, volunteers, and beyond.

Not only will the funds raised help to cover the deficit we face due to the rise in energy costs but will help us to continue to go above and beyond. We wholeheartedly thank everyone who contributed to this cause.”

The resounding success of the ‘Power Up! Appeal’ demonstrates the power of Community in overcoming challenges and ensuring the continuity of important services.
